The Sacred River

Have you ever heard about the river which is sacred When I was young, I traveled to India because of my father’s job. To me, India was just a dirty underdeveloped country. Food was unpalatable, and everything was uncomfortable. There was no ‘heavenly lake’ anywhere. I wanted to go home, but after watching the Ganges, I changed my view of the culture.
The Ganges is a river in Varanasi. Varanasi is the important place to both of Buddhism, and Hinduism. The city was like other cities in India. Streets were full of strange smell, and there was sewage of livestock. The air was very humid and hot. My father and I got a taxi to go to hotel which we stay in, through the road which has a big pothole.
The following morning, before the sun rises, we made start to the river. Sprawling alleys were like mazes. When we reached the riverbank, we could hear splashing sounds, and smell something burning. People were doing laundry, or performing their ablutions in the river water. T…(To be continued )
